100% Happy Hour, 100% Hora Loca: Capturing Buchanan’s Miami Takeover with Buses & Drones!
As a commercial photographer specializing in activations and events, I recently had a blast working with Buchanan’s Scotch on a wild ride through the vibrant streets of South Beach, Miami!
The Challenge: Capture Buchanan’s “100% Happy Hour, 100% Hora Loca” Campaign
Buchanan’s was launching their new Pineapple-flavored Scotch and wanted to target the Latino community in Miami with the help of Pivot Media Ventures, with a campaign that embodied the city’s infectious energy. The concept? Two brightly wrapped buses featuring the new flavor cruising through iconic South Beach hotspots. My job? Capture the entire activation with stunning photos and video content!
Double Deckers & Drone Dreams
The buses themselves presented a unique challenge. To showcase them effectively and highlight the beauty of Miami, I knew I couldn’t rely solely on ground-level shots. Enter my trusty drone! It became a key player, allowing me to capture aerial footage of the buses weaving through the colorful streets, contrasting perfectly with the turquoise waters and iconic Art Deco architecture.
Running, Directing, and Shooting Under the Miami Sun
Coordinating two moving buses in a bustling city like Miami was no easy feat! I spent the day running alongside the buses, directing drivers, and snapping photos with lightning speed. It was a whirlwind of action, sweat, and sunshine, but the end result was pure magic.

By combining dynamic ground-level shots, creative drone images, and the undeniable energy of South Beach, we were able to capture the essence of Buchanan’s campaign. The photos perfectly showcased the vibrant Latino community, the refreshing taste of Pineapple Scotch, and the “100% Happy Hour, 100% Hora Loca” spirit.
